The Q.Theatre database is a work in progress. Its was created for the project Q.Theatre – Theatrical Recreations of Don Quixote in Europe, co-financed by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. The Q.Theatre project seeks to place a focus on the continual presence of Don Quixote on stage throughout Europe and to bridge a gap in the studies of the novel’s reception.
The works collected re-write or adapt Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes in an explicit way or they have some clear relation to the novel.
In the database works are gathered from all theatrical genres, including musical theatre. However, this does not include works that are exclusively musical, such as symphonic pieces or ballets. For works of this type, we recommend consulting the database El Quijote y la música, from the Centro de Documentación de Música y Danza.
The historical period covered on this database spans from the seventeenth century to the present day.
Computer technicians from Progettinrete and the researchers and philologists whose authorship appears in each file have participated in the creation of this database.
We are grateful to users of the database for any new references, information or audiovisual materials, in any digital format, to créate new files and expand the ones already created.
